Farmers who will not get PM Kisan benefits

While the mandatory eKYC is easier to comply with now, farmers may get errors in their devices while applying for the 11th instalment of the PM Kisan benefit

As many as 12.53 crore farmers registered under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana are going to get another tranche of benefits, but those who do not comply with the laid down rules for receiving the benefits may be out. While the mandatory but more user-friendly eKYC can now be completed by 22 May to get the benefits of the scheme, fulfilling this formality is a must.

Earlier, the last date was 31 March. The next or 11th instalment of Rs 2,000 each under the PM Kisan scheme will be transferred to such farmers’ bank accounts anytime after 1 April who have completed their eKYC.

The message on the PM Kisan portal (pmkisan.gov.in) states that eKYC is mandatory for PM Kisan-registered farmers. Farmers must click on the eKYC option in Kisan Corner for an -based OTP authentication and contact the nearest CSC Centre for a biometric authentication.

As per the notification received from UIDAI, due to the intermittent issuance of OTP services, there may be timeout and in response while verifying OTP. Earlier, the last date for completion of eKYC was 31 MarchThe new deadline is 22 May.

STEP 1: First, tap on the icon of your browser and type pmkisan.gov.in. You will reach the homepage of the PM Kisan portal. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to find eKYC. Tap on it and enter your number. Tap on the search button.

STEP 2: Enter the mobile number linked to your card. A 4-digit OTP will reach your mobile number. Fill the box with the OTP

STEP 3: Once again, you will be asked to tap on the button for authentication. Tap it and now a 6-digit OTP will reach your Aadhaar-linked mobile number. Fill the OTP in the box meant for the purpose and tap on submit.

If all the entries are valid, you are in for the latest instalment of PM Kisan. If an entry is invalid, the farmer may not get the latest instalment in time. It can be rectified at an Seva Kendra.

If eKYC has already been completed, you will see on your device screen a message that eKYC has already been completed.

As many as 12 crore more farmers have been registered under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. Out of these, the number of beneficiary farmers are as follows.

Under the scheme, in every financial year, the Narendra Modi government sends Rs 6,000 to the farmers in three instalments of Rs 2,000 each. The first installment is due every year between 1 April and 31 July; the second installment is due from 1 August to 30 November and the third installment from 1 December to 31 March. The 11th installment, therefore, is due on or after 1 April.

It is likely that the beneficiary farmers will get the money on the day of Hindu New Year or Ram Navami — 10 April. PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme was started by the Modi government on 24 February 2019 and with a retrospective effect from 1 December 2018.
