Farmers mutilating people after lynching?

Nihang Sikhs, supporters of the 'cause' of the protesting farmers, are suspected to have committed this crime of mutilation and murder

Within a fortnight after protesting farmers lynched four BJP workers and a journalist in retaliation of an alleged car of a union minister running over some of their fellows, they have apparently mutilated a man and hanged him in full public view. Shocking visuals of a man’s body with his left wrist severed was witnessed at the farmers’ protest site on the Singhu border Friday morning. The body was found tied to an overturned police barricade lying in pool of blood on the ground.

“At about 5 AM today, a body was found hanging with hands, legs chopped at the spot where farmers’ protest is underway (Kundli, Sonipat). No info on who’s responsible, FIR lodged against an unknown person. Viral video is a matter of probe, rumours will linger,” DSP Hansraj said.

While the incident has caused outrage among the farmers who were initially not allowing the police to visit the spot, some of them told reporters under the condition of anonymity that they suspected that some Nihang Sikhs, who are otherwise their supporters, committee this crime.

The farmers later allowed officials of the Kundli police station to take the body to the nearby civil hospital.

The name of the deceased is Lakhveer Singh, a resident of Punjab’s Tarn Taran. He was about 36 years old. According to the police, his body was spotted near the stage.

According to the FIR, the ASI was informed that Nihangs cut off the hands of the victim and hung him on the iron barricade where he succumbed to his injuries.

The police has taken custody of the dead body and taken it to the government hospital in Sonepat. Currently, the body is in the mortuary room. The police are officially not revealing the name of the victim or those of the suspects.

Police have registered a case under Section 302, 34 of the against unknown people. A forensic team is about to reach the spot. A thorough investigation is underway, sources said.
