Extortion FIR against Param Bir Singh, others

It seems Mission Vendetta of the Maharashtra government against the police officer who exposed their former Home Minister Anil Deshmukh’s extortion racket, which had forced the NCP leader to step down. An FIR with charges of extortion has been filed against former Mumbai Police Commissioner at the Marine Drive police station.

and 8 others, including six police officers, have been booked in the FIR. One of the police officers is a DCP with the Mumbai Police branch. Other officials are inspectors with different units of the crime branch.

The complaint has been lodged against and others for allegedly demanding Rs 15 crore from a builder to withdraw cases against him.

The police have arrested two of the partners of the builder, Sunil Jain and Sanjay Punamia.

Mumbai Police has arrested two civilians in the case while the police are yet to be arrested. The complainant in the case is a builder who has filed a case against and others over extortion.

has been charged under Sections 387, 387, 389 for extortion, Section 403 for dishonest misappropriation of converts to his own use, 409 for criminal breach of trust by a public servant, 420 for cheating, 423 for fraudulent execution of the deed of transfer.

Charges under Section 464 for making a false document in the name of a fictitious person, 465 and 467 for forgery, 120 B for being party to criminal conspiracy etc have also been added along with several others.

Meanwhile, the Maharashtra government has given its permission to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) to conduct an open inquiry into the allegations of corruption against former Mumbai Police Commissioner made by another police officer.

The ACB had sought permission to initiate an open inquiry against into the charges levelled by police inspector Anup Dange and the government gave its nod on Wednesday.

Dange was suspended last year and reinstated into the police service earlier this year.

Singh was shunted out as Mumbai police commissioner and transferred as the DG-Home Guard in March this year after the of dismissed police officer Sachin Waze in the case of an explosives-laden vehicle found near the residence of industrialist Mukesh Ambani.
