Election 2019: BJP campaign on Twitter says Modi govt has empowered women

The ruling BJP, Union ministers, several ministries, NITI Aayog and supporters of the current government are telling women voters with the hashtag #EmpoweringNariShakti what all the Narendra Modi government has done for them

New Delhi: One of the hashtags trending on Twitter on Monday is #EmpoweringNariShakti. The official handle of the party ruling at the Centre @BJP4India today led its supporters on Twitter in the campaign to connect to the fairer sex in the electorate.

“Women are leading from panchayat to parliament. 16th Lok Sabha has highest number of elected female MPs and about half of those are from BJP” the party tweeted.

“To ensure the benefits of development reach the poorest of the poor women, the Jan Dhan Yojana has opened bank accounts for more than 17 crore women,” the party said. https://twitter.com/BJP4India/status/1089774592409755648

Tweeting in Hindi, the BJP said, “प्रधानमंत्री मातृ वंदना योजना (PMMVY) के अंतर्गत 61 लाख से अधिक लाभार्थी पंजीकृत हुए और अबतक लगभग 1,600 करोड़ रुपये की राशि वितरित की गई। (Under the PMMVY, more than 61 lakh beneficiaries have been registered and, so far, an amount to the tune of Rs 1,600 crore has been disbursed for the scheme.”

Dealing with a prime social concern, the party also dealt with the issue of crime against women and the state’s response to the scourge.

“Modi government has gone to the extent of making provisions of the death penalty in violent crimes against women. The provision of death penalty for the rape of a girl child under 12 years is a landmark move to strengthen the safety and security of women,” the BJP claimed. https://twitter.com/BJP4India/status/1089776847460560897

The contentious issue of triple talaq figured in the Twitter campaign, too.

“मोदी सरकार ने मुस्लिम महिलाओं को न्याय दिलाने की दिशा में उठाया ऐतिहासिक कदम, लोकसभा में पास कराया तीन तलाक बिल। (In order to be just to Muslim women, the Modi government took the historic step of getting the triple talaq bill passed in the Lok Sabha),” the BJP tweeted.

Some ministries took part in the campaign, too.

Government’s think-tank and Centre-State interface NITI Aayog contributed to the campaign. It tweeted,

Several Union ministers soon joined the campaign.

Minister for Science & Technology, Earth Sciences, Environment, Forests and Climate Change Dr Harsh Vardhan wrote,

It translates to: “Earlier, new mothers had to join their workplace a few weeks after the delivery. The Narendra Modi government increased the duration of the maternity leave from 12 to 26 weeks, thereby making the lives of mothers easier.”
