Drugs in Bollywood: NCB arrests Arjun Rampal’s friend

Notably, Gabriella's brother Agisialos Demetriades was arrested from a resort at Lonavala on 19 October arrest in a drugs-related case

In another development in the contraband-related case in Bollywood, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested Paul Bartel on 12 November. Bartel is a friend of actor Arjun Rampal. Notably, he was arrested on a day when Rampal’s partner Gabriella Demetriades appeared before NCB for the second consecutive day on 12 November. The 33-year-old South African model was questioned at the NCB office at Ballard Estate in south Mumbai. 

The apex drug law enforcement agency has summoned Arjun Rampal who will appear before it today.

The central probe agency summoned Rampal and Gabriella after conducting raids at actor’s residence on 9 November. The NCB seized electronic gadgets like laptops, mobile phones and tablets during the raid. The actor’s driver was questioned by the sleuths.

Notably, police had arrested Gabriella’s brother Agisialos Demetriades from a resort at Lonavala on 19 October arrest in a contraband-related case.

The NCB has arrested around 20 people in the alleged Bollywood-drugs nexus case. The apex drug law enforcement agency had questioned Bollywood actresses Deepika Padukone, Sara Aki Khan and Shraddha Kapoor in connection with the drugs case.

The NCB initiated a probe into alleged drug use in Bollywood after Enforcement Directorate retrieved some WhatsApp chats while probing the money-laundering charges in Sushant Singh Rajput death case.

The drug law enforcement agency arrested Rajput’s girlfriend, actor Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik, SSR’s house manager Samuel Miranda and alleged several narcotics suppliers, drug peddlers under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. While Rhea has been granted bail, Showik and some others continue to remain in judicial custody.

Continuing with it investigations in the drugs case, the NCB raided Bollywood filmmaker Firoz Nadiadwala’s residence in Juhu and arrested his wife Shabana on 8 November. The probe agency officials allegedly recovered ganja during the raid, following which the Bollywood producer’s wife was arrested. She secured bail on 9 November.
