A city court today sent self-styled climate activist Disha Ravi to jail for three days at the request of Delhi Police. The department will seek her custody again next week.

Disha Ravi, whom Delhi Police arrested from her Bengaluru house on 13 February for allegedly conspiring with PR-created environmentalist Greta Thunberg to spread anarchy in the national capital on Republic Day in the name of supporting agitating farmers, was produced before the judge after being questioned by the police for five days.

The court order followed the police request to the judge to remand her in for three days because they wanted to question her again on 22 January.

Additional Public Prosecutor Irfan Ahmed, appearing for the police, told the court that Disha Ravi had been evasive during interrogation. Ahmed said the police wanted to question her again and bring her face-to-face with the other co-accused in this case.

The public prosecutor said the police had served notice to co-accused Shantanu Muluk whom the would question on 22 February.

Disha Ravi, the public prosecutor said, had sought to shift the blame for the toolkit on Muluk and lawyer-activist Nikita Jacob, the third accused in the case.

The three, Ahmed said, needed to be confronted with one another.

Disha Ravi has filed a bail application, which is likely to be taken up on Saturday. Muluk and Jacob have been granted transit anticipatory bail by the Bombay High Court.

Countering the additional public prosecutor, Siddharth Agarwal, who was appearing for Disha Ravi, said that the case diary was not properly given and was also not in accordance with the law.

Earlier in the day, a city court had directed the media and the police to restraint while making details of the case public. The Disha Ravi-Greta Thunberg conversation over dates back to a time before 26 January, 11 January to be precise when the Swede tweeted out a toolkit over the ongoing farmers’ protest in India. They were Disha Ravi, Nikita Jacob, Shantanu Muluk and others who allegedly passed on the document to Thunberg who divulged the rabble rousers’ strategy without realising how social media and real-life activism are orchestrated backstage.
