Mumbai: The actor who had earned the epithet of ‘He-Man’ in Bollywood movies till the 1980s, Dharmendra will be seen playing the character of Chulbul alias Robinhood Pandey’s (Salman Khan) father in Dabangg 3.
Bollywood is abuzz with the news of filmmaker Arbaaz Khan making Dabangg 3, the third edition of his super hit franchise Dabangg.
Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha play the lead roles in the film. Dharmendra’s entry in the film is being widely talked about in the trade.
Vinod Khanna played the role of Salman Khan’s father in the first two films of the Dabangg franchise. After the death of Vinod Khanna, Dharmendra will be seen in the role.
Dharmendra and Vinod Khanna were seen in quite a few memorable films of yesteryears like Mera Gaon Mera Desh, Patthar aur Payal, The Burning Train, Guddi, Rajput, Kshatriya, Batwara, Farishtay, Waqt ka Badshah, Rakhwala, etc.
Film trade experts say there could not have been a better actor than Dharmendra to fill Vinod Khanna’s shoes in Dabangg 3. This is also because Dharmendra enjoys a good rapport with Salman Khan.
Prabhu Deva is the director of the movie Dabangg 3.
Other significant developments about the film include the statement from the filmmaker that the rumour suggesting the coming back of Dimple Kapadia in the role of a resurrected mother (Naini Devi) of Chulbul Pandey is false. Dimple will not be seen in this film.
Then, along the lines of the raunchy hit song “Munni badnaam hui” of the first film in the series, Dabangg 3 will have an item number “Munna badnaam hua”. Salman is learnt to be currently shooting for the song. Vaibhavi Merchant is the choreographer of the dance while popular television star Mouni Roy is shaking a leg with Salman.
Dabangg 3 went on floors recently. Parts of the film have been shot in Madhya Pradesh and Mumbai.
