Baghpat: Two jawans of the Army were assaulted by the owner and workers of a dhaba (streetside restaurant) in Baraut Tehsil of Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat district. The jawans hailing from Village Sujti had come to eat at the dhaba on Saturday.
On some issue not reported so far, the jawans entered an argument with the dhaba workers after which they were assaulted with lathis.
Dhaba workers go berserk
A video of the incident was shot by an onlooker with his mobile phone. The video soon went viral on social media.
The police have arrested more than seven people in connection with the incident.
The video shows clearly that a group of people are showering blows of sticks on a young man in a green kurta and another carrying a red bag. The man in the green kurta is bleeding, shows the video, while the attackers continue to beat him with sticks.

Circle Officer Ramanad Kushwaha said, “The two Army personnel were eating at the dhaba. They got into an argument with a waiter that led to fisticuffs between them. After this, all the staff of the dhaba gathered at the spot of the brawl and attacked the two jawans.”
“The police arrested eight employees of the dhaba and registered a case. Further investigations are going on,” Kushwaha said. He said that the police would arrive at a conclusion only after hearing out both the parties to the dispute.
The FIR has been lodged under Section 307 dealing with an attempt to murder and Section 323 which deals with voluntarily causing hurt.
Whoever does any act with such intention or knowledge, and under such circumstances that, if he by that act caused death, he would be guilty of murder, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to ten years, and shall also be liable to fine; and, if hurt is caused to any person by such act, the offender shall be liable either to imprisonment for life, or to such punishment as is herein before mentioned.
When any person offending under this section is under sentence of imprisonment for life, he may, if hurt is caused, be punished with death.
Whoever, except in the case provided for by section 334, voluntarily causes hurt, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to one year, or with fine which may extend to one thousand rupees, or with both.
