Deepika Padukone will be part of Vin Diesel’s xXx sequel

Deepika was last seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's period drama Padmaavat starring Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in lead roles

Mumbai: Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone is definitely going to be a part of the xXx: Return of Xander Cage, director DJ Caruso has reassured once again. Earlier, announcement came that Chinese singer Roy Wang of the The Fighting Boys band has been roped in to play an important role in the sequel.

Caruso took to his Twitter page to welcome the young artist to the “family”. On the same tweet, a deliberate fan asked the filmmakers about the involvement of Deepika in the sequel.

xXx: Return of Xander Cage was the third instalment in the xXx series after the 2002 film xXx and the 2005 entertainer xXx: State of the Union. It also stars Ruby Rose, Samuel L. Jackson, Donnie Yen and Tony Jaa. The promotion of the film got Diesel to India in January last year, and he had then said that his dream to explore the country has come true.

The film is set to go on floors in January 2019.

The film garnered mixed reviews and grossed over $346 million worldwide against a production budget of $85 million reportedly.

It was hailed as the highest-grossing film of Revolution Studios and in the franchise.

Deepika was last seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s period drama Padmaavat starring Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in lead roles. Deepika’s performance was appreciated by the critics and viewers alike.

Back in Bollywood, Deepika was supposed to star in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Sapna Didi alongside Irrfan Khan. However, owing to Irrfan’s cancer treatment, the project has been put on hold.

Deepika is currently busy planning her big fat wedding to bea Ranveer Singh. As per a report, the date has been set to be 20 November. The love birds will tie the knot in an intimate ceremony in Italy. We wonder if xXx 4 will be the first film for Deepika after her wedding.
