In a major action taken against DSP Davinder Singh, who was caught with some terrorists in Kashmir, he has been dismissed from the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
Davinder Singh was caught on Saturday along with two terrorists. He was on leave for a few days. He is under the scanner of investigating agencies for helping terrorists who had attacked the Parliament House in 2001. The NIA is currently questioning him.
Security agencies had warned the Jammu and Kashmir administration several times about Davinder Singh arrested from Kulgam in Jammu and Kashmir, but due to the local police authority’s negligence, the DSP wriggled out of all inquiries.
In the morning of 11 January, when Davinder left home in his i10 car from Srinagar, a team followed him. Before the Jawahar Tunnel, the police arrested him along with two top Hizb ul Mujahideen terrorists.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has handed over to the NIA the investigation of the case of the dismissed DSP of Jammu and Kashmir Police. A 6-member team of NIA is investigating the matter. Singh is constantly being questioned. According to sources, IB and Military Intelligence officials have already questioned DSP Singh.
‘Davinder would always grab his share of hawala money the moment it arrived’
The police are revealing sordid details of their colleagues nexus with terrorists even as two Hizb ul Mujahideen terrorists, arrested along with Davinder Singh, are being interrogated too. During the interrogation, the terrorists have given some important clues about their links outside India and in the country as well.
After a stint as a sub-inspector, Singh joined the Special Operations Group (SOG), establishing contacts with many people in the valley. The dismissed officer and his terrorist acquaintances used hawala money coming from abroad in Kashmir. The arrested terrorists have revealed that Singh would take his share from them every time immediately after the hawala money arrived.
Sources in Jammu and Kashmir Police claim that soon the DSP was going to be promoted to the post of a Superintendent of Police (SP). His name was included in the list of officers who were to be promoted. Even after being involved in suspicious activities, Davinder Singh was named in the list of promotions.
Home ministry denies awarding disgraced DSP; police deny he was in charge of Pulwama during attack on CRPF convoy
Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday denied the news published by a section of the media claiming that the MHA had awarded DSP Davinder Singh a medal. In the past, he received only the President’s Gallantry Award recommended by the state of Jammu and Kashmir during his service on the occasion of Independence Day in 2018. The police denied also the wild claim of rabble-rouser-cum-lawyer Prashant Bhushan who had alleged that the government was not found alert enough during the Pakistan-sponsored terror attack on a convoy of CRPF buses in Pulwama when Davinder Singh was in charge of their security.
Police said that while Davinder Singh was posted as DSP in District Police Lines, Pulwama, earlier, he had been transferred two months before the attack. He was awarded a medal for his participation in facing a suicide attack by terrorists here on 25-26 August 2017, the police said. The police have advised the media to not concoct factless stories.
