The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Gujarat carried out a search operation this morning at a roadside dhaba (eatery) at a place in District Gandhinagar and arrested three suspects for selling cookies made of cannabis oil. They were selling cannabis oil separately as well.
The Gujarat ATS has handed over all three accused to SOG and a case has been registered at Adalaj police station, under various sections of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Act (NDPS), Gandhinagar Special Operation Group (SOG) Police Sub Inspector LH Masani said.
The FIR for the case says Gujarat ATS officials received specific intelligence that at the roadside restaurant named Chula Chicken, cookies made of marijuana oil were being sold. ATS officials sent a dummy customer and bought a cookie for Rs 4,000, after which police arrested three suspects — Jay Kisan Thakor, Ankit Fulhari and Sonu.
They kept the cookies in a box that bore Amazon stickers. When questioned, Jay Kisan told the police that they delivered cookies to customers at their doorsteps. Police seized three cookies, a laddu, and other substances worth Rs 1.59 lakh.
These accused were using cannabis oil in making cookies. They were also selling cannabis oil separately and charged Rs 2,500 to Rs 3,000 for 1 g.
The officer said that the suspects would be produced in the court. The supplier of marijuana seeds, the address where they process it, the customers of these cookies, the duration for which this business has been going on and whether they bought only seeds or were into larger marijuana business as well are things the police are yet to find out.
