Conman sent gifts to actresses other than Jacqueline too

The ED is questioning Pinky Irani, a woman who was paid crores of rupees by conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar to facilitate ‘friendship’ with Jacqueline Fernandez

Conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar turns out to have stalked a whole lot of women who work in Bollywood. Last week, Jacqueline Fernandez, in her statement to the Enforcement Directorate (ED), had revealed that the conman had given her two pairs of diamond earrings, two Hermes bracelets, three Birkin bags and a pair of Louis Vuitton shoes. But Jacqueline was not the only one Sukesh Chandrashekhar was sending such hampers to.

The conman had been targeting several actresses, some of whom are well-known A-listers. Sukesh would send these luxury gifts under different names to ensure anonymity and to protect his identity.

“Sukesh was sending random gifts and hampers to a lot of Bollywood actresses. That too under different initials and names. He was easily smitten by the looks of Bollywood actresses, and before Jacqueline, he tried the same stunt with a few others. Fortunately, none of these big A-list actresses fell for it or even entertained these lavish gifts,” an insider was quoted by India Today as saying.

Once the news of the alleged fraud exploded, several of these actresses called one another to crosscheck whether what they had received was indeed something sent by the conman. Since Sukesh Chandrashekhar would make sure to use different noms de guerre — as in the case of Jacqueline Fernandez, he introduced himself as Shekhar Ratna Vela — the ED is finding it all the more difficult to deduce if the gifts were actually from him.

The statement from the conman recorded by the ED under Section 50 of the PMLA Act states that he had gifted as many as 15 pairs of earrings, five Birkin bags, and other luxury goods from Chanel, Gucci to Jacqueline Fernandez. He claimed that he had gifted her Cartier bangles, rings and a bracelet from Tiffany & Co, Rolex watches, worth Rs 7 crore and even a horse called ‘Espuelah’. But Jacqueline said the gifts included only two pairs of diamond earrings, two Hermes bracelets, three Birkin bags and a pair of Louis Vuitton shoes, in her statement to the ED.

Meanwhile, the ED is interrogating Pinky Irani, a who was paid crores of rupees by the conman to facilitate ‘friendship’ with Jacqueline Fernandez. Pinky’s role surfaced after the agency recorded a statement of Jacqueline’s makeup artist, Shaan Muttathil, who said that in January 2021, a woman named Angel had called him to introduce him to the conman as Shekhar via video call. That was when Shekhar requested him to introduce him to Jacqueline, who was not interested in talking to a stranger.
