Congress MP’s wife: ‘Fate like rape; can’t resist? Enjoy!’

Anna Linda Eden, a video jockey and wife of Congress MP from Kerala Hibi Eden, wrote this on Facebook; removed it and apologised for the remark

In a bizarre development in Kerala, Anna Linda, wife of Congress MP Hibi Eden, posted on social media a glorification of hate crimes and rape. Anna Linda Eden, wife of MP Hibi Eden, in her Facebook post written on Tuesday, compared luck to rape. She wrote, “Fate is like rape. If you can’t resist it, try to enjoy it.” However, after a ruckus on social media, she removed this post from her Facebook account and apologised for the brash, insensitive comment.

The Facebook post of Anna Linda Eden, wife of Congress MP Hibi Eden, had the caption: “Fate is like rape; if you can’t resist it, try to enjoy it.” She also shared two short video clips with this post, which were about getting her child out after rainwater entered their house.

In a video, she is seen enjoying a sizzler. Due to heavy rains on Monday, there was a flood-like situation in Kochi and heavy traffic jam in the entire city.

Hibi Eden had resigned from the post of MLA and won the election for the first time from Ernakulam Lok Sabha seat on a Congress ticket. This region is considered to be a Congress stronghold in Kerala.

Hibi’s wife Anna is associated with Radio Mango 91.9 FM. She often shares videos on social media. The video which was disputed on Tuesday was the last video of this series.

However, the controversy escalated due to Anna’s inappropriate remarks about luck. His post was flooded with comments. He later removed this post. So far, Anna or Hibi have not issued any response in this regard.

Hibi Eden got married to Anna Linda, a Malayalam channel anchor, on 30 January 2012 at the Kaloor St Francis Xavier church after 4 years of courtship. The couple has a daughter Clara Eden born on 27 November 2012. Hibi is a devout member of the Roman Catholic Latin Rite Archdiocese of Verapoly, Ernakulam.
