New Delhi: ABVP leader and Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) joint secretary Chhattrapal Yadav has been shot at in Delhi. He has had a narrow escape. He is reported to be safe now.
Before this, a gun was flashed at ABVP president and JNUSU joint secretary Saurabh Sharma during the controversial 9 February event on the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus. He had filed a complaint with the police. No action has been taken against the perpetrator so far.
There have been a series of attacks and acts of discrimination against ABVP activists in recent times on the JNU campus. A first-year woman activist’s belongings were thrown out of her hostel dormitory and “Reject ABVP” was found scribbled on her bed.
Hot vegetable curry was thrown at the women activists of ABVP when they were campaigning inside the Jhelum hostel mess.
Abusive anti-RSS, anti-ABVP messages were painted on the door of an independently elected councillor in JNU, who happens to adhere to a nationalist ideology.
“F**k you” was written on the walls outside ABVP-affiliated Vijay Kumar and Gaurav Jha’s room. Jha, a student of the JNU, happens to be a columnist of सिर्फ़ NEWS.
Elsewhere in Kerala, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and Bengal, scores of RSS activists are being targeted and some brutally hacked to death in broad daylight. The suspects in these cases are either Islamists or communists or both.
