Bhopal: Ex-Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has rejected the claim of the Kamal Nath government that even his family members got farm loan waivers. Chouhan said that Congress president Rahul Gandhi and Chief Minister Kamal Nath were still misguiding the farmers in the debt waiver case.
Rahul Gandhi had recently shown a list of beneficiaries of the farm loan waiver scheme of his party’s government in Madhya Pradesh where Chouhan’s brother Rohit Chauhan’s repayment liability was waived. On Wednesday, Gandhi had said in the election meeting of Gwalior that Chouhan’s brother Rohit Singh and his son Niranjan Singh had been forgiven.
“I wanted to know the reality. Then I learnt that my brother had never even applied for a loan waiver,” Chouhan said.
Congress had released two forms of loan waiver. The names of Rohit Singh and Niranjan Singh are visible in these forms.
Farm loan waiver a lie of Congress govt: Chouhan
Chouhan, showing the list of beneficiaries loan waivers, said, “Next to my brother Rohit’s name is written ‘income taxpayer’. In the next column, it is written no application has been made for waiving the loan off. Can Kamal Nath explain how he forgave the debt? Why so generous with my family?”
Chouhan alleged that the Congress government in the State had not yet waived the debt of farmers. “On the contrary, they sent me an eye drop, almonds and Chyawanprash so that I can see how many farmers have been cleared of debt.”
Chouhan said that the farm loan waiver is a lie of the Congress government. “They take the farmers of the State for fools. Unless the bank issues the certificate of foregoing a loan, a loan is not waived,” he said.
The former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh advised, “Kamal Nathji, change your advisers; they will plunder all your loot.”
Chouhan had arrived at the venue of the press conference with a pack of Chyawanprash. He said, “On Wednesday, the Congress sent Baba Ramdev’s Chyawanprash to my house. This means they have complete faith in Baba Ramdev.
Chouhan told BJP leaders to give all the ‘gifts’ back to the Congress leaders and ask them to forward these to Kamal Nath and Rahul Gandhi.
