Shahjahanpur: The college student who accused BJP leader Swami Chinmayanand of rape handed over a pen drive to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) late Friday evening as evidence. It contains more than 40 videos. The victim has accused the former Union minister of sexually abusing her and another student for years together.

The advocate of Chinmayanand, however, said that massage, of which the woman had earlier posted a video on social media, was not a crime.

The SIT interrogated the alleged victim at Chinmayanand’s residence till late evening. A large number of cops were deployed around and inside the building at the time of the interrogation. The team then called the student’s mother on Saturday for questioning.

The victim said that the SIT accompanied her to investigate Chinmayanand’s bedroom on Friday.

The bedroom, in the meantime, has been completely redesigned. The room has been given a new look with new paint.

The student said that important evidence had been removed from Chinmayanand’s room. But the forensic team has seized two bowls containing massage oil, a towel of Chinmayanand, brush, soap etc from the room.

In response to the team’s questions, the alleged victim said that Chinmayanand was sexually abusing another student of BA LLB. She said, “The student had told me her problem many times.”

According to the alleged victim, during the search of the bedroom of Chinmayananda, the SIT had asked her and her father to hand over whatever evidence they had pertaining to the case to the team by 9 PM on Friday night. Following this, the victim reached the SIT office in the Police Line neighbourhood late Friday and handed over the pen drive to them.

The pen drive is of capacity 64 GB containing 43 videos. The student said that she had given a handwritten complaint, about 12-pages long, to the SIT at the police station in Lodi Colony, Delhi. In connection with this, the SIT recorded her statement on Friday at Chinmayanand’s residence.

The student says that after her admission for the LLM course, Chinmayanand threatened her to meet him with the help of some goons. They left him upstairs, after which Chinmayanand showed a video of himself under the shower. Since then, he had been physically abusing and raping the two girls, she said, adding that the abuse continued for a year. The student urged the SIT to recover the video that allegedly shows Chinmayanand in the buff.

Om Singh, the advocate of Chinmayanand, reacted to the previous video that had gone viral on social media by saying the girl was seen massaging his client in the video, and massaging was not a crime. “Girls massage at all the spa centres,” the lawyer said. In the video, there is absolutely no feeling that someone is doing something under pressure, he added.

The former Union Minister of State for Home Chinmayanand was accused of sexual exploitation by this law student studying at the SS Law College he heads on 24 August. Taking cognisance of the case, the Supreme Court had ordered the government of Uttar Pradesh to constitute the SIT.
