The Central Bureau of Investigation arrested yesterday a manager of the Bank of India, Hiwara Bazar Branch, Tahsil-Ramtek, district Nagpur, for demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs 2,500 from the complainant.
A case was registered on 9 June against the accused under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, for demanding bribe of Rs 5,000 from the complainant. The complainant alleged that the manager demanded the bribe for sanction of loan of Rs 1,00,000. The demand was further reduced to Rs 3,000 by the accused.
The CBI laid a trap and caught the manager while and accepting a bribe of Rs 2,500 from the complainant after negotiation. The arrested accused was produced before the Sessions Court, Nagpur, and was remanded to 2 days’ police custody.
