Bollywood mourns Vinod Dua

Their knowledge of current affairs may be half-baked, they never miss an opportunity to comment on an occasion. The death of pro-Congress senior journalist Vinod Dua was an occasion that Bollywood, the sympathies of which lie on the same political side, couldn’t miss.

Due died yesterday at a private hospital in Delhi. His daughter, actress and comedian Mallika Dua confirmed the news through social media, sharing her father’s picture on her official Instagram account.

As Mallika Dua wrote a long post with the photograph from her archives, several Bollywood personalities fell over one another to express grief over his death and tell Mallika they stood in her support.

Commenting on Mallika Dua’s post, actress Dia Mirza wrote, “Mallika Dua, love and strength to you and your family. Lots of feelings.”

Amitabh Bachchan’s daughter Shweta wrote in her comment, “Many condolences and love to Mallika.”

Actress Aditi Rao Hydari wrote in her comment for Mallika Dua, “Prayers for you and your family.”

Bollywood filmmaker Zoya Akhtar wrote in her comment, “It’s sad to know, lots of love and strength to you.”

Many other Bollywood personalities mourned the death of Vinod Dua who had worked with Doordarshan in the era of Rajiv Gandhi and and the leftist . His health was deteriorating for the past several days. He was admitted to ICU at Apollo Hospital.

Vinod Dua was the first electronic media journalist to be honoured with the prestigious Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Award. In 2008, he was awarded the Padma Shri Award by the UPA government for journalism. He was honoured with the RedInk Award in the year 2017 by the woke Mumbai Press Club. The honour was bestowed upon him for his “lifetime achievement” in journalism.

A confused chief minister of Maharashtra of the time, Devendra Fadnavis, disliked by Hindus since his interference in the tradition of Shani Shingnapur, gave him the award.
