BJP president JP Nadda appointed general secretary Muralidhar Rao as the central observer for the selection of the leader of the BJP legislature party. All BJP MLAs extended their support to the person who would be the new LoP and the central observer announced Marandi’s name as the leader of the BJP Legislature Party. The legislators signed and gave their written consent to the name of Marandi.

The announcement of Marandi’s name was followed by an outpouring of leaders congratulating him. The MLAs welcomed him with flowers and angavastra (Indian cloak). MLA Dharampal Singh, general secretary and MP Sunil Singh, Deepak Prakash and all the MLAs greeted Marandi on the occasion.

All top leaders of the state BJP including Union Minister Arjun Munda and former Chief Minister Raghubar Das congratulated Babulal Marandi on being elected as the LoP. Munda personally met Marandi at the state office and congratulated him on being elected the leader of the legislative party.

“I wanted to serve the party by moving among the public, but I am deeply grateful to the responsibility the party has given me. May everyone’s love and cooperation remain, that will be our strength.” Marandi said, accepting his new role.

He said he would discharge the responsibility given by the central leadership in full capacity. “Even though I was out for 14 years, I had gone nowhere. I am in the party again. I feel very good on returning home. We will push the BJP forward with full force,” Marandi said.

“The party has assigned an important role to take BJP forward from the House to the streets. Babulal Marandi has been elected as the LoP on the basis of the party’s high standards. Party MLAs will work under his leadership with team spirit,” Rao said.

Rao said, “I have a personal relationship with Babulal ji. Today is a matter of joy for me. In the coming days, we have to work together to strengthen the BJP. Babulal ji will continue to show his activism to increase the support base in Jharkhand. There will be many events in the coming days. The public welfare schemes of the CAA and the Government of India are to be brought door-to-door. Everyone has to walk with cooperation. The new government has to make people aware of the situation in the state. We have to turn the challenge into an opportunity.”

Om Prakash Mathur, vice president of BJP, said, “Babulal Marandi never went out of thought, mind and theory. Today, the party has made him the LoP. The BJP will play a strong opposition role under his leadership in the assembly. He has respected the sentiments of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and President JP Nadda.”

He is a skilled leader, sharp orator and a seasoned administrator. His role will be important on issues related to state interest outside the House and outside the House,” he tweeted.

“Just a short time ago, we had a meeting with Babulal Marandi ji. The same spontaneity, the same gentleness and the same affinity. Meeting after a long time and then many old memories are refreshed. The current political scenario was also discussed,” Sanjay Seth, BJP MP from Ranchi, tweeted.
