Following an intelligence report of infiltration of terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian Army is on high alert along the India-Pakistan border and the Line of Control (LoC). According to the intelligence report, terrorists may be present in the Bhimber Gali and Nowshera sectors backed by the Pakistani Border Action Team (BAT).
Intelligence sources informed news agency ANI that they have shared the inputs with the security forces and the BSF and alerted them for a strict vigil. The security forces are sanguine Pakistani BAT is providing the terrorists with full support. On the Indian side, the movement of terrorists has intensified.
Personnel of Pakistani BAT are highly trained. They include commanders of the Pakistan Army. Terrorists associated with Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba often mingle with BAT’s frontline force. BAT has started targeting civilians too.
In January, BAT attacked and killed a civilian in District Poonch near the LoC. The victim, identified as Mohammad Aslam, was decapitated and even the rest of the body was dismembered.
A senior official of the BSF said, “There were no such reports in the past weeks but security forces have been alerted after receiving this report a few hours ago, especially in two sectors. Petrolings have been increased and nighttime extras Deployment will be done. Pakistan will give a befitting reply to any daring.”
A senior government official said, “The BAT is helping terrorists infiltrate into India this season. After training the terrorists in different camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and interior districts of the Islamic republic, BAT and other agencies of Pakistan despatch them to the LoC and border areas. When their attempts at infiltration fail, they launch attacks on us with the help of these terrorists.”
Last week, the Indian Army killed a terrorist in the Kori area near the LoC in the Bhimber Gali sector of District Rajouri of Jammu and Kashmir. It was a joint operation based on intelligence report by the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
