Bajrang Dal protests as Muslims occupy Bhopal mall floor for namaz

Bajrang Dal activists protested today in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, to Muslims wantonly occupying an open inside a mall for namaz. Videos of the altercation at the DB Mall this afternoon have surfaced on social media, in which some people can be seen offering namaz on the ground floor of the facility.

Bajrang Dal workers shot videos of a sizeable group of Muslims offering namaz and arguing with a representative of the mall's management that they would recite the Chalisa at the establishment. The activists of Bajrang Dal chanted the Mahamantra at the gate of the mall. They sat near the gate and raised the slogan of "" while the videos shot by them went viral.

The commotion went on for about half an hour. Earlier, a similar ruckus had happened at the Lulu Mall of Lucknow.

MP Nagar police station in-charge Keshant Sharma said that on receiving information about the protest, a police team was sent to the spot, but no untoward incident was reported. When the police reached the spot, the Bajrang Dal members were coming out of the mall.

Sharma said that no one had registered a complaint so far. Bajrang Dal's co-convenor Abhijit Singh Rajput, who led the protesters, said, "We have been getting information for the past month that some people are offering namaz on the second floor of DB Mall. We reached there today and caught 10 to 12 people who were offering namaz." He said that the Bajrang Dal had raised objections to the DB Mall management in this regard, but no official was present.

"We spoke to the security supervisors and warned them to not let the facility be used for namaz or else, Bajrang Dal members would recite Chalisa and Sundar Kand (a part of Ramayana) on the spot," Rajput said. He alleged that the manager of the mall claimed that the namaz was being offered in a closed space, but that was not the truth.

However, the security staff of DB Mall Pvt Ltd did not respond to queries in this regard. The company's vice-president Sanjay Jain could not be reached for comment despite repeated attempts.
