Mumbai: Amitabh Bachchan and Tapsi Pannu’s film Badla has already been declared a hit and now this movie is going to be a super hit. In two days, the film has collected more than Rs 62 crore at the box office.

Sujoy Ghosh’s film Badla, made at a cost of around Rs 30 crore, saw a splendid collection of Rs 26 crore on its second day — this Tuesday. Now, the film’s total gross has gone up to Rs 62 crore 37 lakh while the gross collection of the film is Rs 73 crore 59 lakh.

The film had got an opening of Rs.5.5 crore. Badla has collected Rs 8 crore 70 lakh in this second week, which is only a little less than the collection of Rs 23 crore 20 lakh in the first week. The film had earned Rs 38 crore in the first week.

Hollywood film Captain Marvel was released the same day as Badla was. Yet, the kind of business that the Hollywood film did in the first three days has had a major impact on the box office performance of Badla but later the film peaked.

The film Badla is an official Hindi remake of Spanish movie Contratiempo, which means ‘the invincible guest’. It took 10 years for Badla to take shape.

Sujoy Ghosh wrote the script but was not getting the name because the title Badla had been booked by some other producer. Earlier, Vidya Balan had agreed to be with Amitabh Bachchan and Naseeruddin Shah had consented to essay the role of the third lead character, but the cast changed when the makers were finally ready to shoot the film.
Badla has been produced by Shahrukh Khan’s company Red Chillies Entertainment.

The plot of Badla involves a girl who is living with her boyfriend for three months but one day he disappears. Someone gets to know this and starts blackmailing her. One day he is found murdered and the girl faces the charge of murder.

Amitabh Bachchan fights the case more in the capacity of a detective. What kind of a badla (revenge) this is about is revealed in the climax.
