Amitabh Bachchan hospitalised for liver treatment

Amitabh Bachchan uploaded a photo with fans at 1:03 PM on 15 October; by 2 PM, his condition deteriorated and he was rushed to the hospital

Actor Amitabh Bachchan was admitted to Mumbai’s Nanavati Hospital two days ago after being diagnosed with a liver problem. According to Vicky Lalwani, editor of news website Spot Boy, Amitabh Bachchan was admitted to the hospital after his condition deteriorated.

Amitabh Bachchan’s kidney is only 25% functional. He has been kept in an ICU. Since the news about Big B leaked to the media, there has been a beeline of people associated with Bollywood making visits to the Nanavati Hospital to meet the ailing actor. Famous gastroenterologist Dr Jayant S Barve is treating him and monitoring his health.

The condition of the superstar could be serious as the Twitter handles of Amitabh Bachchan and his son Abhishek Bachchan have not been active for a while, which is unusual especially for the father who otherwise tweets every day. On 15 October, Bachchan Sr had uploaded a picture on Twitter at 1:03 PM, showing him shaking hands with a crowd of fans standing outside his house.

He was admitted to the hospital at around 2 PM. However, the news of his hospitalisation surfaced only on Thursday, 17 October.

Amitabh Bachchan did not tweet on 16 October. Today, Big B made two tweets. In the first, he shared a picture of an award function and in the second he shared an old picture of wife Jaya Bachchan. It was Karva Chauth today, celebrated with great pomp in the Bachchan family.

Amitabh Bachchan turning active on social media today could mean he is recuperating. He has been kept in a separate room, after being released from the ICU, informed the hospital. According to the hospital staff, Bachchan’s condition is better than before, but they refused to share more detail.

Amitabh Bachchan’s family is constantly visiting the hospital where his room is guarded by four security personnel.

Abhishek Bachchan has not posted on Twitter since 14 October. In the last post, he has put Motivational quotes. MP and Amitabh’s wife Jaya Bachchan and daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai are not on Twitter.

Amitabh Bachchan’s show Kaun Banega Crorepati has been on-air for the past few months.

Rs 250 crore of Bollywood is riding on 77-year-old Amitabh Bachchan. Big B will be seen in Ranbir Kapoor’s upcoming film Brahmastra. The budget of this film of Ayan Mukherjee is Rs 150 crore. Bachchan Sr will be seen also in Emraan Hashmi’s film Faces. Amitabh Bachchan is going to be seen in Ayushman Khurana’s film Gulabo Sitabo, too.
