Akshay Kumar: Big directors don’t cast me

After surprising everyone with the comment, given that most of his films are hits, the 'Khiladi' finally revealed who he was complaining about

Akshay Kumar, going to be seen in the film Good Newwz on Friday, made a startling remark, given that most of his films are commercially successful. He said big banners are reluctant to cast him in their films. He said that was the reason he often worked with the new directors.

Talking to the media during the launch of the trailer of Good Newwz, Akshay Kumar explained his predicament, saying, “When the ‘big people’ don’t take you in the film, you have to start your own journey. If you don’t get a job in a big company, you have to work with a start-up. From there you can jump. You cannot just sit at home and think why people are not taking you despite your capability.”

Kareena Kapoor, Kiara Advani and Diljit Dosanjh will be seen in the lead roles of the strangely spelt Good Newwz. On the very last day, Akshay Kumar’s film song “Sauda khara khara” has been released, which is now quite a hit.

At the trailer launch, Akshay Kumar was asked whether his ‘plight’ owed to big directors’ preference for Khans at one point of time. He said, “They go to those who deserve it. You must have seen there are not only Khans; many other people are there too. I felt if I was not worthy of them, I need to find my own way of earning.”

Talking about the new film, Akshay Kumar said, “Good Newwz‘ director Raj Mehta is my 21st new director. I can feel that his ‘greed’ to do good work is much greater than that of old directors. It’s a do-or-die situation for a new director because if his film does not work, he will be finished. “

Akshay Kumar made it clear who he was referring to in his next comment. “I still do not have big directors. They produce films with me but do not direct. You may ask this to Karan Johar,” the Khiladi said.
