2. Mulayam Singh Yadav not a star campaigner of the SP[/pullquote]

New Delhi: The Samajwadi Party (SP) announced the names of two more candidates on Sunday for the upcoming Lok Sabha election. These names include that of SP president Akhilesh Yadav and Azam Khan. Interestingly, the name of Mulayam Singh Yadav is missing from the list of ‘star’ campaigners of the SP.

The list of star campaigners of the SP names about 40 leaders including Akhilesh Yadav, Ram Gopal Yadav, Azam Khan, Dimple Yadav, Jaya Bachchan and Tej Pratap Yadav. But there is no mention of Mulayam Singh Yadav in this list.

Before this, Akhilesh Yadav had said about his party’s coalition with the BSP that Mulayam Singh Yadav had established the relationship with Mayawati and he wanted to fix those relations. Akhilesh had said, “Netaji (Mulayam) had earlier established a relationship by running a coalition with the BSP. We have to fix the relationship. We must tell the truth.”

Sirf News had earlier chronicled how the relationship between the SP and BSP had soured.

While denying Mulayam Singh Yadav any ticket would have been sensational, Akhilesh Yadav seems to have settled for a compromise to build bridges with Mayawati by keeping his father out of the list of campaigners. This implies that, in effect, Mulayam Singh Yadav will campaign only for himself in Mainpuri and he will not be carried along the convoy of the SP across Uttar Pradesh.

Senior party leader Azam Khan has been fielded from the Rampur constituency.

Akhilesh’s father and SP founder Mulayam Singh Yadav is the MP from Azamgarh seat. This time, it is believed SP will nominate him from Mainpuri, but his name has officially not figured in any SP list.

Akhilesh was already being speculated to contest the election from Azamgarh. Azam Khan is the current MLA from Rampur and, this time, he will be the SP candidate from Rampur Lok Sabha seat.

Dimple Yadav will be the candidate from Kannauj. Dharmendra Yadav from Badayun, Akshay Yadav will be party candidate from Firozabad, Kamlesh Katheria from Etawah (reserved), Bhai Lal Kole from Robertsganj (reserved) and Shabbir Valmiki from Bahraich (reserved).
