In January 2021, a model-turned-actress had allegedly accused a pilot of raping her under the pretext of marriage. The woman had submitted a complaint at the Oshiwara police station and lodged an FIR against the accused. In her statement, the actress alleged that in December 2020, she met the accused, a professional pilot, on a matrimonial site and he promised to marry her.
That television actress had alleged that the pilot was a native of Bhopal, residing in Mumbai. He would often talk to her on the phone and chat on social media. He even expresses his desire to meet with her at her residence. The actress said that he called her to his house and allegedly raped her. Later, the accused assured her that he would introduce her to his parents but that never happened.
This incident has come to the fore weeks after another TV actress filed a complaint at the Oshiwara police station in Mumbai, alleging that a pilot had raped her after promising to marry her.
The actress had told the police that she came in contact with the accused through a matrimonial portal. He, later, sexually assaulted her under the false promise of marriage, she alleged.
In a judgment this week, the Supreme Court had ruled that in the case of a couple that has been in a live-in relationship for long, consensual sex between them cannot be termed as rape if the man failed to keep his promise of marriage to the woman.
