Babulal Marandi sees Bangladeshi infiltrators’ menace in Jharkhand in rape, murder of tribal girl

The incident of sexual abuse and murder of a tribal teenager in the hands of a Muslim man shows a pattern, indicating crimes by Bangladeshi infiltrators in Dumka, BJP leader Babulal Marandi said after surveying Village Kuchiyadali of Ranieshwar in Jharkhand where the tribal girl lived. The former Jharkhand chief minister and BJP legislature party leader said that such incidents were happening regularly in Dumka and adjoining areas of Bangladesh.

There should be an investigation by the regarding such cases, Marandi demanded. He said, "Everything can be understood by looking at the painfully silent faces of the victim's family members. I also know the pain of losing my child to such demons."

Babulal Marandi's younger son Anup Marandi was killed in a Maoist in Village Chilkhari, District Giridih, Jharkhand, on 27 October 2007.

According to the Adivasi family of the 14-year-old victim whose body was located on 2 September, the girl had gone to Dumka to work. Sometimes she would stay at her aunt's house in Jama police station area. This was where she got acquainted with the suspect, a rajmistri (head mason).

The family alleges that Armaan, a resident of Sriamada, sexually abused the girl first by luring her to marry. When the girl was four-months pregnant, the teenager started pressing the Muslim man for marriage.

Irritated by the constant prodding to marry the girl, Armaan first killed the teenager and then tried to pass off the murder as suicide by hanging the dead body.

The Dumka SP has confirmed that the deceased tribal girl found hanging from a tree in Dumka was a minor. A case has been registered against suspect Armaan Ansari under Section 302 of IPC, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) and Pocso Act.

"The police are investigating the case.  It will be known only after the postmortem is done whether she was pregnant or not," SP Amber Lakra said. He told reporters that a case had been registered against the accused under Section 376 of IPC.
