JNU’s 9 Feb rabble rousers punished

New Delhi: The students of the Jawaharlal Nehru University who had on 9 February celebrated the ‘martyrdom’ of Parliament House attack convict Afzal have been punished by the institution’s headed by Vice-Chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar. It seems the management tried a balancing act, as the list of punished students includes a student affiliated to the ABVP, who couldn’t have, by any stretch of imagination, joined his communist counterparts in the grotesque commemoration of a terrorist’s hanging.

Anirban Bhattacharya has been rusticated till 15 July and declared out of bounds from the entire JNU campus with effect from 25 July 2016 for a period of 5 yrs. He is also debarred from taking admissions in any study programme of JNU during this period.

Mujeeb Gatoo has been rusticated for two semesters (i.e monsoon & winter semesters of 2016-17). His name shall stand removed from the rolls of the university. His readmission in the university after expiry of rustication period will be subject to his conduct during this period.

Syed Umar Khalid has been rusticated for one semester (the monsoon semester of 2016-17). He has been fined Rs 20,000.

Ashutosh Kumar’s hostel facility has been withdrawn for two semesters of 2016-17. He has been fined Rs 20,000.

Komal Mohite’s hostel facility has been withdrawn with immediate effect till 21 July 2016. He ought to pay a fine of Rs 20,000.

Kanahiya Kumar (JNUSU president, AISF) has been fined Rs 10,000.

Saurabh Kumar Sharma (joint secretary, JNUSU, ABVP) has been fined Rs 10,000.

Naga (general secretary, JNUSU, AISA) has been fined Rs 20,000.

Aanand Prakash Narayan has been fined Rs 20,000.

Reyazul Haque has been fined Rs 20,000.

Chintu Kumari has been fined Rs 20,000.

Shweta Raj has been fined Rs 20,000.

Gargi Adhikari has been fined Rs 20,000.

Aishwarya Adhikari has been fined Rs 20,000.

Aswathi A Nair has been fined Rs 20,000.

Anwesha Chakraborty has been fined Rs 20,000.

Rubina Saife has been fined Rs 20,000.
